What is mad?
Think Musicals, Pantomimes, Drama, Singing and Dancing. At Rhythm Academy, we want a place to bring all the performing arts into one: that's MAD. Working across age groups and disciplines, we come together each week to create incredible experiences and performances.
The Classes
MAD Sessions are a true multi-disciplinary class. You'll learn theatre skills, drama, dance & singing in ensembles large and small, and solo work.
Musicals, Pantos and Cabarets will be performed, but ultimately, it's great fun for 90 minutes in a nurturing, friendly and kind environment.
The goal
Weekly MAD classes come with the expected training and rehearsing... but the real goal is to let students be part of something bigger than themselves, make friends, and grow into skilled, articulate, committed young people who will be able to do whatever it is they put their minds to.
There's nothing quite like putting on a show to bring people together!
what's involved?
MUSIC
Ensemble singing, technique and voice care, harmonising and solo/small group sessions. Use of sheet music and live accompaniment.
Acting
Drama work includes playing games to develop projection, confidence and interpersonal relationships. Skills include improvisation, mime and physical theatre. Storytelling techniques like freeze frames, flashbacks and monologues.
Script work, table reads, casting considerations and character exploration.
Dance
Dance at MAD is all about expressing the music, story and character, but will draw its technique mainly from Jazz, to build strong theatrical, expressive dancers who use their bodies and musicality to enhance the delivery of a show.
